FLORIDA PREPAID COLLEGE BOARD NAMES EXECUTIVE DIRECTOR
The Florida Prepaid College Board has named Kevin Thompson as the organization’s
new executive director. The appointment was made at a Board meeting held on
April 18, 2012. Thompson replaces Thomas Wallace, the former executive director
who retired in December after 35 years of public service to the State of
Florida.
Thompson joined the Florida Prepaid College Board in November 2011 as Director
of the Florida College Investment Plan and was subsequently named interim
executive director on January 1, 2012. With
more than 18 years of experience in financial and administrative management,
Thompson has held key roles with several state agencies, most recently serving
as Director of Agency Support Services for the Florida Agency for Workforce
Innovation (AWI) for the past nine years.
Prior to his position at AWI, he held financial and administrative roles with
the Florida Department of Management Services and the Florida Department of
Banking and Finance. Thompson’s private sector experience includes time with
Ernst & Young, Law Redd Crona and Monroe and teaching at Tallahassee Community
College.
Thompson is a Certified Public Accountant and holds Bachelor’s and Master’s
degrees in accounting from Florida State University.
